How to break strength plateaus while building muscle?

Strength and building muscle

building muscle

When I was new to the gym, I thought you could keep gaining strength over time by just being consistent and patient

but that isn’t going to happen, I can tell you that from my personal experience

but there will be a point when you won’t be able to lift heavier weights

and that happened to me after 1.5 years of training

so how can you solve this problem, the only way to break a plateau is by lifting lighter weights

you must be thinking, well how does that work, isn’t the whole point of getting stronger to lift heavier weights

NO, getting stronger means doing more, that could be lifting the same weight for more reps or lifting heavier weight for the same reps

For example: if you can do 9 reps on an incline bench with 25 kg DB, then you can either do more reps with 25 kg DB or you can switch to a slightly heavier weight (example-27.5 kg) and do the same reps

In both scenarios, you have applied progressive overload but 1 rep with a heavier weight is equal to 2,3 or 4 reps with a lighter weight

So with the lighter weights, you can get small increments in your strength

Hence you’ll be able to break through the strength plateaus

But that doesn’t mean you can continue to get strong with no genetic restrictions, there comes a time when you can lift a certain amount of weight and cannot lift heavier

This happens when you hit your genetic potential

And nothing can be done about it except taking PEDs which I don’t recommend at all

Unless you’re a competitive bodybuilder, there is absolutely NO reason to take PED
