Pre-workout 101
Should you take pre-workout regularly or not
Well let’s start with why I don’t take pre-workout
The first reason is that the only stimulant in pre-workout that works is caffeine, all the other ingredients have different purposes
For example: Beta-alanine gives you that weird itch, and L-citrulline or citrulline malate helps with nitric oxide, which improves blood flow
Now the reason I don’t take pre-workout is as follows:
a. Huge doses of caffeine
b. Your body adapts to a certain dosage of stimulants
Let me explain (a): because of the amount of caffeine they put in pre-workouts, it doesn’t make any sense to take them in the evening because all it does is fucks up your sleep schedule, which cause issues in recovery
And if you need to take pre-workout in the morning as a young individual, you better get your blood work done, because if you need to take stimulants in the morning when your body is full of energy, it is better to consult a doctor why in the hell do you lack energy as a young person
You need to fix your lifestyle first, complete this checklist:
- Am I getting 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night
- Is my diet full of fruits, healthy fats and protein or is it full of shit
- Do I train my muscles and cardiovascular system
- Do I spend 30-45 minutes every day in natural light
When you fix your lifestyle, you’ll find out that you don’t need to be on high doses of stimulants for basic function
Now, 2nd reason is that stimulants work initially but after some time you just need to get the same dose to just get to the gym or to do the same amount of basic work
So, even if you want to use stimulants, it is better to cycle them otherwise they lose their power to give you that extra boost
